Plan Your Summer or Fall Getaway at Dyer Lake Vacation Home
If you have been thinking about a Northern Michigan escape, this is your sign to start planning.
Summer and early fall are some of the most requested weeks in Traverse City. Families book early for lake time, winery visits, and Sleeping Bear sunsets. If you have specific dates in mind, it is wise to check availability soon.
Welcome to Dyer Lake Vacation Home in beautiful Traverse City.
This is the kind of place where mornings feel unhurried. Coffee on the deck. Calm water reflecting the trees. Maybe a quiet paddle board ride before breakfast. Dyer Lake is private and no wake, which means peaceful afternoons for swimming, floating, and fishing without heavy boat traffic.
It feels easy here.
Discover Old Mission Peninsula
Another scenic day trip is out to Old Mission Peninsula. The road stretches between West Bay and East Bay, so the water views follow you the entire drive.
You can visit the lighthouse at the tip of the peninsula and stop along the way at tasting rooms that are part of the Wineries of Old Mission Peninsula association. Each one offers something a little different, from panoramic decks to cozy indoor spaces during cooler months.
It is an easy, beautiful drive that pairs well with a slow morning on Dyer Lake.
Spend a Day in Downtown Traverse City
Traverse City is very walkable and welcoming. There are two parking garages and several surface lots downtown. Just keep in mind there is a parking fee in most areas.
Once you are parked, you can explore local shops, grab lunch by the water, or book a sail on the Nauti Cat. Some families love parasailing on East Bay. Others enjoy sailing on one of the Tall Ships. There is something for every comfort level.

Visit Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore
Sleeping Bear Dunes is about a forty minute drive from Dyer Lake Vacation Home and absolutely worth setting aside a full day for. Forest trails, sandy beaches, and towering dunes stretch along Lake Michigan for miles. Glen Haven Historic Village is the primary restored 19th-century logging and port town located directly within the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.
Before you go, it helps to check trail conditions, parking updates, and current park information on the official Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore website. It makes planning easier, especially during the busy summer months.
Bring water. Wear comfortable shoes. Take your time at the overlooks. The views are unforgettable.
Explore Leelanau County and the Wine Trail
While you are there, continue along M-22 and stop in historic Fishtown in Leland. Visit the Grand Traverse Lighthouse at Leelanau State Park. Have lunch in Glen Arbor, Suttons Bay, or Northport. Each village has its own charm.
The M-22 drive itself is part of the experience, especially in early fall when the colors begin to change.
If you enjoy wine tasting, the Leelanau Peninsula Wine Trail offers a variety of tasting rooms, each with its own personality and vineyard views. It is a relaxed way to spend an afternoon, and most locations are very welcoming to first time visitors.
Come Back to Calm at Dyer Lake
After a day of exploring, coming back to the lake feels like exhaling.
Our family and pet friendly lakefront cottage sits in Long Lake Township, just minutes from downtown Traverse City. You can enjoy everything the area offers and still return to peaceful water and quiet evenings.
Grill dinner. Watch the sunset reflect on the lake. Let the kids fish from the dock. Bring your dog along for the adventure. There is space to relax, reconnect, and slow down.
That balance of convenience and serenity is what guests love most.
If a peaceful lake stay with easy access to Traverse City, Old Mission Peninsula, and Sleeping Bear sounds like your kind of summer or fall, we encourage you to look at availability soon. The most popular weeks fill first, especially mid summer and early fall color season.
We would love to host your Northern Michigan getaway.
