For those of us who live here, we already know how special Traverse City is. Michiganders have been coming north for hundreds of years to enjoy the beaches, the woods, and the fresh air. Even travelers from Chicago made their way north decades ago. For a long time though, visitors from farther away were fairly rare, unless they had family ties here.

Patrick and Lauren understand that pull well. Even after moving to Virginia, it is not just family that brings them back to Traverse City. This area has a way of calling you home. There is so much to enjoy here, and it is never just one thing. It is not only the beaches, or the trails, or the wine, or the restaurants. It is the full experience and that unmistakable feeling of being up north. I swear my blood pressure drops as soon as I get north of Cadillac. Something in the air quietly says it is time to relax.

Over the last decade, the rest of the country has started to notice what we have known all along. Traverse City and the surrounding area have landed on countless best of and top of lists, both nationally and internationally. We have been highlighted for everything from world class scenery to food, wine, and even ice cream. Sleeping Bear Dunes has been named one of the most beautiful places on earth, and honestly, we agree.

Since Patrick and Lauren began sharing their Traverse City vacation home with guests, one thing has continued to surprise us. How far people are willing to travel to be here. We have welcomed guests from Virginia, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Florida, South Carolina, Kentucky, Iowa, Texas, Hawaii, and of course Michigan. We have hosted international travelers from Scotland, Germany, England, and Italy. Traverse City truly is a destination people plan entire trips around.

And the recognition keeps coming.
