If you are looking for something fun to do in Traverse City in April, the Traverse City Comedy Fest is worth adding to your plans. It is a great way to shake off the last bit of winter and enjoy a few nights filled with laughter, whether you are visiting for the weekend or just spending time in the area.
What to Expect
The Traverse City Comedy Fest returns April 16 through 18, 2026, bringing a wide variety of comedy to multiple venues across the Traverse City area. Now in its fourth year, the festival has built a reputation for featuring both nationally recognized comedians and rising talent from around the country.
This Year’s Headliners
This year’s headliners include Megan Stalter, Sarah Sherman, Gary Gulman, Roy Wood Jr., and Joe DeVito. It is a strong lineup that mixes well-known names with fresh voices you may be seeing for the first time. This year features more than three dozen performers.
More Than Just Stand Up
The festival is not just traditional stand up. You will also find improv, roast battles, and the always entertaining Comedy Rumbles. These fast-paced shows feature comedians delivering ninety-second sets as they compete for the title of Rumble Royalty. It is a fun way to experience a lot of different styles in one show.
Planning Your Schedule
There are around 20 shows scheduled throughout the festival at different times and venues, so you can easily build a schedule that fits your pace. Whether you prefer something clean, something a little edgier, or even a themed event like a murder mystery comedy, there is a good mix to choose from. Want to Try Comedy Yourself?
If you have ever thought about trying comedy yourself, the festival also offers workshops and seminars at Hotel Indigo Traverse City. These sessions are a relaxed way to learn more about stand up, writing, and performance.
Supporting a Good Cause
Another nice part of the festival is its community focus. This year, a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Women’s Resource Center, helping support their work in protecting and empowering those impacted by domestic and sexual violence.
A Fun Way to Spend an April Weekend
The Traverse City Comedy Fest is one of those events that is easy to enjoy. You can keep it simple with one or two shows, or turn it into a full weekend of entertainment. With smaller venues and a mix of performers, it often feels more personal and relaxed than larger events.
If you happen to be in the area that weekend, it is an easy way to add something different to your plans and enjoy a few good laughs along the way.
